Call for Presenters
The 2025 Educators’ Institute, Supporting Educators, Empowering Students with LDs, will provide educators with interconnected tools and strategies to promote success and inclusion. This year, we will focus on creating adaptable, inclusive classrooms that respond to the unique strengths and needs of students with learning disabilities (LDs), equipping educators to support and empower students to reach their full potential.

The virtual conference will take place on August 19th & 20th. With the support of the Ministry of Education, the virtual conference will be free for all Ontario educators to attend. Sessions will be one hour in length, including time for Q&A.
Criteria & Guidelines for Submissions
In order for your proposal to receive a full review, the proposal(s) and the presenter(s) MUST meet the following criteria:
- Align with the Ministry of Education’s PPMs and initiatives;
- Meet the needs of Ontario educators;
- Be non-commercial;
- Provide delegates with practical takeaways;
- Possess current research or practical experience in the area of teaching and learning of students with LDs;
- Explicitly link current research to practice, and provide educators with practical assessment and instructional approaches that can be directly put to use in Ontario classrooms.
Topics
We invite all submissions that will increase educators' capacity in the teaching and learning of students with LDs. Topical areas include, but are not limited to:
- De-streaming and students with LDs
- Reading strategies for students with LDs and struggling readers (particularly for students above primary)
- Writing strategies for students with LDs
- Mental health, well-being, and resilience
- Ontario's STEM curriculum and students with LDs
- Dual diagnosis (e.g., LDs and ADHD, LDs and giftedness, etc.)
- Behaviour
- Numeracy strategies for students with LDs
- Educator collaboration: teacher teams supporting inclusive learning environments
- Equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Growth mindset and strengths-based approaches
- Innovative assessment strategies for supporting students with LDs
- Transitions and students with LDs
- Spatial reasoning
- Screening and identification
- Technology
- Developing effective self-advocacy skills
- Working collaboratively with parents of students with LDs
- Social emotional learning
- Ontario curriculum updates

Logistics
Presentation proposals must be submitted by February 7th, 2025 by 5 PM. Anyone who submits a proposal will receive a letter of acceptance or non-acceptance from the LD@school team by no later than April 30th, 2025.
