Math has become a hot topic in Ontario and yet, despite our best efforts, students with LDs can still be left behind. Some students struggle with numerical skills and computation. Others fall behind in math class because they struggle to effectively communicate what they have learned.
This webinar will show you how assistive technology, like Google Tools and other web-based tools, can help your students express what they have learned. This webinar will also provide an example of how project-based learning can make math fun for ALL students in your class, including those students with accommodations and curricular modifications.
By the end of this webinar, participants will:
- Have an understanding of the different assistive technologies available for students to use in math
- Learn how to foster math communication using voice and screen recording
- Understand how to implement a project-based learning task to help reach multiple curriculum subjects, as well as multiple needs in your classroom
About the presenter:
Richard Parker is a teacher from the Halton District School Board and a strong advocate for students with exceptionalities. He is also a certified Google Educator, who has worked with students with exceptionalities throughout his career, first as a teacher in self-contained settings, and then as an Assistive Technology Lead within his board. This led Richard to his current role at Trillium Demonstration School where he works with students with learning disabilities and severe reading impairments.
