Welcome to this LD@school online learning module for educators!

This module is intended to provide an introduction to promoting strong school-family relationships to support students with learning disabilities (LDs). This module will present the ways in which educators and other school board professionals can work with students and family to help students with LDs to succeed in their education and will provide guidance, strategies and tools to help build strong school-family relationships. The strategies outlined in this module are appropriate for all students.

Gradually, as students move through the grades and on to employment or further education, the role of families will decrease and the student will be expected to take more responsibility for their own education. For more guidance on developing self-advocacy skills so that students are able to speak on their own behalf and represent their personal needs and interests, view the Learning Module Fostering Advocacy for Students with LDs.

The menu on the left-hand side of this screen displays the outline of this module, which should take approximately 45 - 60 minutes to complete. To begin the module, you will complete a self-assessment to gauge your current knowledge of this topic. Then, the body of the module will provide you with information, strategies, and resources to help you support your students. To conclude, you will complete a final self-assessment to consolidate your learning.
