About the Webinar

Executive functioning skills play a critical role in how students plan, organize, manage emotions, sustain attention, and navigate everyday learning experiences. For students with learning disabilities and ADHD, challenges with these skills can create significant barriers to classroom participation and success.

In this practical webinar, Dr. Terri Jackson explores how educators can recognize executive functioning challenges and respond with intentional classroom strategies. From establishing predictable routines and supporting self-regulation to breaking down complex tasks and providing flexible assessment opportunities, the session offers approaches that can make learning more accessible while fostering student independence.

What You’ll Explore

  • Understanding executive functioning: How planning, organization, working memory, flexible thinking, and self-regulation influence learning.
  • Creating supportive environments: Using organizational systems, visual schedules, predictable routines, and co-regulation strategies.
  • Strengthening instruction: Breaking complex tasks into manageable steps, checking for understanding, and supporting transitions.
  • Making assessment more accessible: Offering flexibility, choice, breaks, and opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning in different ways.

Supporting executive function is not about expecting every student to learn or work in the same way. It’s about recognizing individual differences, reducing barriers, and creating opportunities for every learner to develop greater independence and experience success.

About the Webinar

Back by popular demand!

Following the outstanding response to her session at this year’s Educators’ Institute, Terri Jackson returns for a practical webinar focused on supporting executive function in the classroom.

Executive functioning skills such as planning, organization, and self-regulation are essential for learning, but they can present significant challenges for students with learning disabilities and ADHD. In this webinar, educators will explore how executive functioning differences can appear in everyday classroom situations and, most importantly, what they can do to help.

Terri will share practical, classroom-ready strategies including visual supports, structured routines, task breakdown, and metacognitive approaches. Participants will leave with strategies they can use right away to support students, maintain high expectations, and build greater independence.
